Antarkranti resurrected life skills in Women inmates at Tihar Jail, Delhi

Antarkranti, a social initiative, by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, aims at inmate rehabilitation and improvement so that they can also mingle with the social stratum.  In this endeavour, Antarkranti launched a Life Skills program for the women inmates at Tihar Jail, Delhi on 2nd May 2016.

Sadhvi Jaya Bharti Ji, preacher disciple of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji (founder and guide of DJJS), Master trainer Ms. Mudurunu Uma Ji and renowned personality development trainer Lieutenant Reeta Gangwani Ji carried out the introductory sessions on 2nd and 3rd May in which inmates were given one to one counseling and were also given an opportunity for self-introspection. Participants were a group of 25 under-trial inmates from the age group of 18 – 35 years.

After the introductory sessions, the first core session of the workshop was held on 4th  May in which the Master trainer Ms. Mudurunu Uma & Sadhvi Jaya Bharti touched upon the topics like ‘Community living and adjustment – inside as inmate and outside after release’, developmental aspects; ‘how to tune yourselves spiritually, mentally and socio- economically’ etc.

The core aim of the Life skills workshop was to assist inmates with meeting the demands for more effective responses to the challenges posed by life. By offering inmates the opportunities to develop the skills they need for coping successfully with life and its problems, life skills workshop aimed at assisting inmates to become empowered and eventually build their own individual capacity so that they can lead a respectable and socially acceptable life once they are released.

The inmates expressed great excitement for the workshop and participated enthusiastically. The feedback and the follow up was a great moral booster for the team Antarkranti, which strive them to do more for the society.
